The North East Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association (NEHPBA) held its 40th Anniversary Celebration May 4–7, 2025, in Saratoga Springs, New York, bringing together hearth, patio, and barbecue professionals from across the region for their multi-day event and celebration.
At the Derby-themed 40th Anniversary banquet, NEHPBA honored its longtime members and recognized outstanding contributions within the industry. Milestone awards were presented to those who have been members of NEHPBA for 10, 20, 30, and 40 years. The Keeper of the Flame was awarded to Sean Rosser, from Hearthside Fireplace & Patio and the Dave Hannah Memorial Award was presented to Darlene Magee from ICC.
The event featured a lineup of educational sessions for both technicians and business owners, with topics ranging from valve troubleshooting and chimney inspections to outdoor living strategies, panel discussions and legal updates. Attendees also enjoyed indoor and outdoor vendor exhibits, golf tournament, and pub crawl.
A government affairs training session was offered on day 2 followed by meetings at the New York State Capitol. NEHPBA Board of Directors and members met with 19 state legislators in both the Assembly and Senate. Discussions focused on the potential impacts of the All-Electric Buildings Act and the NY HEAT Act, with members expressing concerns about limiting access to natural gas and highlighting the importance of maintaining energy choice.
“The engagement underscored NEHPBA’s proactive role in advocating for the industry at the state level,” said Karen Arpino, NEHPBA Executive Director.
As NEHPBA celebrates its first 40 years, the event highlighted the importance of membership, advocacy, education, and connection in shaping the industry’s future.
