After a hard-fought campaign funded by the industry’s gas hearth manufacturers, NWHPBA and local retailers, the Home Builders Association, and other partners, Washington State voters chose fuel choice on election day. 51.7% voted in favor of the measure, and 48.3% opposed it. This ballot measure would ensure access to natural gas in homes and other buildings and repeal a state law requiring plans to transition from the use of natural gas to electricity. While the measure is statutory and not constitutional, it is an essential step to protect the industry in a state prone to enact gas bans locally.
